Welcome to the website of the Permanent Mission of the People's Republic of China to the United Nations Office at Geneva and Other International Organizations in Switzerland.
In history, Geneva headquartered the League of Nations, the forerunner of the United Nations. Today, by hosting the largest office of the United Nations outside its New York headquarters, a large number of United Nations Specialized Agencies and other international organizations, Geneva is an important center for international negotiations and rule-making in such fields as disarmament and security, trade and development, human rights and humanitarian affairs, etc. Geneva has also won the honor of "the capital of global soft power" and suited as an important platform for the international community to tackle various global challenges.
Geneva is also the place where New China's multilateral diplomacy started. In 1954 when late Premier Zhou Enlai led the delegation and attended the Geneva Conference on Korea and Indo-China, New China made its debut on the international stage. Over the decades, with its ever growing relations with Geneva-based UN agencies and other international organizations, and by participating in international affairs in a comprehensive and intensive manner, China has made positive contributions to maintaining world peace, promoting common development and facilitating international cooperation.
It is of my hope that our website could serve as a bridge leading you to China, helping you to know China and China's diplomacy, especially China's foreign policy and practices on arms control and disarmament, human rights, humanitarian issues, public health, intellectual property, labor issues, post and telecommunications, environmental protection, etc.
Thanks for your attention. Any suggestions or advice to our work would be welcome and appreciated.
