Geneva is not only the largest office of the United Nations outside its New York headquarters, but also the headquarters of many important UN special agencies and other international organizations. Hosting numerous international conferences and multilateral diplomatic activities each year, Geneva provides an important platform for the international community to tackle various global challenges.

It was in Geneva that New China made its debut on the international stage in 1954 when Premier Zhou Enlai led a delegation and attended the Geneva Conference here.
