Vice Foreign Minister Song Tao Attends Consultations in Denmark between the Chinese and the Danish Foreign Ministries

On May 21, 2012, Vice Foreign Minister Song Tao held consultations between the Chinese foreign ministry and the Danish foreign ministry with Permanent Secretary of State of the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs Claus Grube in Copenhagen and also met with Minister for European Affairs Nicolai Wammen.

Song said that at present China and Denmark enjoy sound relations, frequent exchanges at all levels and in all fields and fruitful cooperation. China attaches importance to developing relations with Denmark and expects to make joint efforts with Denmark to strengthen the bilateral high-level visits and push forward the bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation in the fields of sustainable development, biomedicine, energy saving and environmental protection.

The Danish side noted that Denmark and China have long-term friendship. After years of concerted efforts, the two countries have strengthened bilateral ties and consolidated friendship. Denmark hopes to conduct win-win cooperation with China in the fields of sustainable development and green economy.

Song spoke highly of Denmark's important role in the EU. He hopes Denmark works to promote the development of China-EU relations when it holds the EU rotation presidency in the first half of this year.

The Danish side expressed desire to actively boost the development of relations between Europe and China which are the two major economies in the world and hope to make Denmark the gateway of Chinese enterprises to the European market.

Chinese Ambassador to Denmark Li Ruiyu attended the meeting.
