On April 27, 2012, Chairman of China-Japan Friendship Association Tang Jiaxuan visited the earthquake-stricken area of Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture, Japan and the disaster-hit people in their temporary housings.
In the afternoon of April 27, Tang first visited a primary school which was hit by tsunami during the March 11 earthquake in Sendai and then visited the earthquake victims in their temporary housings. He held cordial talks with the earthquake-stricken people and presented panda toys to children there.
Receiving media interview in the temporary housings, Tang said that he came to Sendai to extend the condolences of the Chinese people to the Japanese people in the three Northeast disaster-hit areas. China is willing to make its contributions to the reconstruction of earthquake-stricken areas.
Talking about the current China-Japan relations, Tang said that the bilateral relations in general have maintained good momentum of development and enjoy promising prospects although there will be some fluctuations on the way foward. The two sides should adhere to the general development direction of bilateral ties and promote the healthy growth of China-Japan relations.
At the invitation of seven Japanese friendship groups with China and the Japanese executive committee of the Friendship Year of People-To-People Exchange between China and Japan, Tang started visit to Japan on April 22.
