On March 14, 2012, Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi held a telephone conversation with his Jordanian counterpart Nasser Judeh.
Yang said China is committed to pushing for the political solution of the Syrian issue and has raised six proposals on the issue. Chinese Foreign Ministry officials have paid several visits to Syria and the countries concerned in the region to exchange views and make communications with the parties concerned. He said the Chinese side urged all relevant parties in Syria to put an end to violence and carry out dialogue, and supported the positive efforts of the international community to seek a political solution to the Syrian issue. China is willing to continue to play a constructive role in seeking a fair, peaceful and proper solution to the issue.
Judeh said China's proposals have much in common with those of Arab countries, adding Jordan and other Arab states attach great importance to the six proposals. All parties concerned should seek a political solution to the Syrian issue and Jordan appreciates China's important efforts in this regard. China has always supported the just cause of the Arab people and is a sincere friend of the Arab people. Jordan is willing to maintain communication and coordination with China on the Syrian issue.
On China-Jordan relations, Judeh said both sides share a profound friendship and bilateral ties enjoy sound development. Jordan is ready to work with China to expand economic and trade cooperation between the two countries. Yang said that China is satisfied with the sound development of bilateral relations and is willing to continuously strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation in all areas in the current new situation.
The two sides also exchanged views on the Palestine-Israel issue.
