On February 21, 2012, Vice Foreign Minister Song Tao met with visiting former British Foreign Secretary and Labour Party MP David Miliband.
Song Tao pointed out that currently Sino-British relations have been developing smoothly. During 13 years of Labour administration, Sino-British relations have achieved rapid development. He hoped the Labour Party will continue to contribute to the promotion of Sino-British relations. Miliband stressed that China's development presents opportunity to both the UK and the world and it is a consensus of all British political parties to strengthen cooperation with China.
The two sides also exchanged views on the European debt problem, the Syrian situation and other issues.
