China, Japan Hold the 12th Strategic Dialogue

On December 2, 2011, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Zhijun and his Japanese counterpart Sasae Kenichiro held the 12th China-Japan strategic dialogue in Beijing. The two sides exchanged views in a candid and in-depth way mainly on the direction of the China-Japan relationship and the mutual political and strategic trust between the two nations.

The two sides agreed that they should fully implement the consensus reached earlier between the two nations' leaders, strengthen dialogue, exchanges and cooperation, and enhance mutual trust to ensure that their strategic relationship of mutual benefit will develop in a healthy and stable way.

The two sides agreed to proactively make preparations for Prime Minister Noda's visit to China and take the opportunity of the 40th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between the two countries to further advance bilateral relations.

The two sides also agreed to appropriately handle sensitive issues between the two nations through dialogue and consultation.

The two sides exchanged views on international and regional issues of common concern as well.
