Vice Foreign Minister Cheng Guoping Holds Consultations on the SCO with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Borodavkin

On October 31, 2011, Vice Foreign Minister Cheng Guoping and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexei Borodavkin held consultations on the SCO in Moscow. Both sides agreed that after ten years of development, the SCO has achieved fruitful results in cooperation in all areas. Currently, the international and regional situation is undergoing complex and profound changes and the role of the SCO is more important. China and Russia will work with other SCO member states to push the organization to play a greater role in maintaining regional security and stability and promoting development and prosperity of member states.

The two sides also exchanged views on issues concerning the SCO's development and membership expansion, agreeing to step up legal and technical preparations for the organization's membership expansion.
