On October 10, 2011, Vice Foreign Minister Cui Tiankai took the joint interview of several Chinese and foreign media on the second China-US consultations on the Asia-Pacific affairs. Correspondents of People's Daily, Xinhua News Agency, the Central People's Broadcasting Station, China Central Television, China Radio International, China Daily, China News Service, Global Times, Phoenix Satellite, South China Morning Post, the Associated Press, Reuters and CNN participated in the interview.
Cui pointed out that the consultations aim at implementing the consensus reached between the two heads of state of China and the US in January this year to build the partnership based on mutual respect and mutual benefit, strengthening the bilateral communication and effectively coordinating their responses to the challenges of regional and international affairs.
He stressed that a healthy and stable China-US relationship builds the foundation of bilateral coordination on regional and international issues. Recently, the US did something violating the spirit of building the partnership between the two countries and hurting the interests of the Chinese side. China will raise the issue to the US during the consultations in order to seek a better solution and to prevent it from causing more interference to the overall development of the bilateral relations.

He pointed out that the repeated arms sales of the US to Taiwan seriously damage China's core interests, undermine the bilateral relations and go against the current peaceful development trend of the cross-Strait relations. It does not conform to the US' own interests in the long run. He hopes the US will not repeat the mistake again.
