Vice Foreign Minister Fu Ying Meets with Slovenian Foreign Minister Zbogar

On September 8, 2011, Vice Foreign Minister Fu Ying met with Slovenian Foreign Minister Samuel Zbogar on the sidelines of the sixth Bled Strategic Forum. Chinese Ambassador to Slovenia Sun Rongmin attended the meeting.

Zbogar welcomed Chinese officials, scholars and entrepreneurs to the Bled Strategic Forum, expressing belief that it will provide a new platform for China and EU to enhance understanding and cooperation and will help Europe hear more voices from China. Fu thanked for Slovenia's invitation, and said China is ready to continue to strengthen cooperation with the Forum and promote the establishment of a long-term mechanism.

Both sides made ​​positive comments on Sino-Slovenian relations. Fu emphasized the political mutual trust between both sides remains good and there is no obstacle to expanding mutually beneficial cooperation. China is willing to discuss with Slovenia as early as possible the arrangements for activities marking next year's 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations and make planning for the next-phase cooperation priorities. Zbogar said that Slovenia attaches importance to China's international status and influence, is ready to commit to deepening economic and trade cooperation between the two countries and welcomes Chinese enterprises to participate in the port, railway and road construction. Slovenia will push countries in this region to cooperate with China in the field of infrastructure construction to expand cooperation scale. Fu believed that Slovenia has unique advantages in the development of countries in the region and looked forward to Slovenia playing an active role in promoting cooperation between China and Southeast Europe.

The two sides also exchanged views on China-EU relations and the European situation. Fu hoped Slovenia will continue to play a role in expanding China-EU mutual trust and cooperation. Zbogar stressed that China is an important strategic partner of the EU and Slovenia is willing to contribute to stable development of EU-China relations.
