Wu Bangguo Meets with Serbian Parliament Speaker

On the afternoon of August 29, 2011, Chairman Wu Bangguo of the NPC Standing Committee met with Serbian Parliament Speaker Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic at the Great Hall of the People.

Wu said in recent years China and Serbia have witnessed frequent high-level visits, increasing political mutual trust and new progress of economic and trade exchanges. After introducing China's economic and social development, Wu expressed hope that both sides will strive to expand cooperation scale based on their respective development strategies, promote cooperation on large projects in infrastructure construction and other areas and enhance the level of cooperation. Wu said China attaches great importance to developing ties with Serbia and is ready to work with the country to continuously enrich China-Serbia strategic partnership and push bilateral relations to a higher level.

Wu said parliamentary exchanges are an important part of China-Serbia strategic partnership. The NPC of China attaches importance to developing friendly exchanges with the Serbian parliament and is ready to keep closer multi-level and multi-channel exchanges and cooperation, enhance exchange of experience on governing the country and developing democracy and legal system so as to inject new vitality into bilateral ties.

Djukic-Dejanovic said it is her second visit to China after her pervious trip years ago. During the current visit, she witnessed China's economic prosperity, improving infrastructure and substantial improvement of people's livelihood, which impressed her very much. China's successful experience is worth learning by Serbia. To actively develop relations with China is consensus reached by all political parties in Serbia and is also a strategic choice made in line with people's will. The Serbian parliament is ready to push bilateral ties to a higher level and bring more benefits to both peoples with their own efforts.
