On August 12, 2011, Vice Foreign Minister Song Tao met with the delegation of Chinese-American and Chinese-Canadian politicians which was invited by China Overseas Exchange Association.

Song introduced to the guests China's relations with the US and Canada and fully recognized their unique contributions to maintaining the right and interest of overseas Chinese, facilitating the convergence of diversified cultures and enhancing the friendship of China with related countries. Members of the delegation said that their trip is very fruitful and they are willing to work actively to promote the harmonious development of overseas Chinese communities and increase the mutual understanding and friendship of the Chinese people with the American and the Canadian people.
