On the evening of April 12, 2011, the Kuwaiti Embassy in China held a reception to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of China-Kuwait diplomatic relations in Versailles Ballroom, Legendale Hotel, Beijing. Isma'il Tiliwaldi, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China, and Kuwaiti Ambassador to China Mohammad Saleh Althuwaikh attended and addressed the event.
Isma'il Tiliwaldi said Kuwait was the first among the Gulf Arabic countries to establish diplomatic relations with China. Over the past 40 years, bilateral relations have developed soundly, as evidenced by increasing political mutual trust and fruitful cooperation on trade, energy and infrastructure, he said. Bilateral exchanges on culture, sports and other humanities areas have achieved remarkable results. China is ready to work with Kuwait to take the opportunity of the 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties to maintain high-level exchanges, deepen friendly and mutually beneficial cooperation in all areas and push China-Kuwait friendly cooperative relations to a new level.
Addressing the event, Kuwaiti Ambassador Mohammad Saleh Althuwaikh said the two nations have enjoyed fruitful cooperation over the past 40 years. Both sides have built a bridge of friendship and cooperation in such areas as economy, trade, oil, culture, sports and social affairs. Kuwait is ready to join hands with China to deepen bilateral ties.
More than 500 Chinese and Kuwaiti guests including Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Zhai Jun and Director of Asia Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait Mohammed attended the reception.
