On February 14, 2011, Vice Foreign Minister Zhai Jun met in the Foreign Ministry with Kuwaiti new Ambassador to China Mohammad Saleh Althuwaikh. Zhai said China and Kuwait enjoy friendly relations and China attaches importance to friendly cooperative ties with Kuwait. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries. China is ready to work with Kuwait to push forward bilateral ties.

Althuwaikh said the Kuwaiti government attaches great importance to developing ties with China. He said he was willing to work with the Chinese side during his tenure to push bilateral relations for greater development.
