Wen Jiabao Meets with Austrian President Fischer

On January 21, 2010, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao met with visiting Austrian President Heinz Fischer in Diaoyutai State Guesthouse.

Wen said Austria is an important country in the EU as well as a friendly cooperative partner of China. The two countries and their peoples advocate peace, respect each other's development road and work to expand dialogues between different civilizations. He said this common ground was conducive to enhancing mutual trust and understanding between China and Europe and promoting international cooperation against various challenges. Wen said the relations between China and Austria went beyond the bilateral framework and took on a broad prospect. Wen said China would like to work with Austria to elevate dialogues and cooperation in various fields on an equal and mutually beneficial footing, and to push forward bilateral ties and China-Europe relations in a sound and steady way, so as to make new contributions to harmony and sustainable growth of the world.

Fischer said China's economic and social development has achieved remarkable outcomes and China is playing a decisive role on the world arena. The two countries shared broad common interests and views on a lot of issues. He said further advancing bilateral ties would serve the fundamental interests of both countries. Austria is ready to work with China to push bilateral ties to a new level.
