Wang Yi: The Theoretical System of China's Diplomacy Constantly Improves
2016/12/03

On December 3, 2016, Foreign Minister Wang Yi expressed at the opening ceremony of Symposium on International Developments and China's Diplomacy in 2016 that the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee attaches high importance to and actively promotes innovation in diplomatic theories. At the G20 Hangzhou Summit, President Xi Jinping systematically expounded the view on global economic governance, which should be based on equality, embrace openness, driven by cooperation and a mechanism of sharing, and proposed to build four major governance structures featuring finance, trade and investment, energy, development and others, depicting a "Chinese Roadmap" for promoting the reform on the global economic governance system.

Wang Yi stressed that since the 18th CPC National Congress, President Xi Jinping has served as a link between the past and the future and forged ahead to derive nutrition from refined traditional Chinese culture and seize the trend of the spectacular historical course. Xi Jinping put forward a development concept featuring fairness, openness, comprehensiveness and innovation, a vision of common, comprehensive, cooperative and sustainable security, a cooperation view with deepening Asia-Africa cooperation, expanding South-South cooperation and promoting South-North cooperation as cores, and a global governance notion featuring wide consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits. He also brought forward an international order featuring win-win cooperation and called for upholding the values of friendship, justice and shared interests with more importance on the former. All these have enriched and improved the theoretical system of major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics, and provided timely and strong guidance to the rapid development of China's diplomacy.
