2021-06-02 22:35

Honorable Vice Governor Erkin Tuniyaz,

Honorable Vice Chairman Li Xuejun,

Distinguished guests,

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Welcome to today's event.

Eradication of poverty is both a long-held dream of human beings and a daunting challenge the world faces. The Communist Party of China and the Chinese government have always given top priority to poverty alleviation, and led the Chinese people in blazing a trail of poverty reduction in line with the situation in the country. After long and arduous efforts, China has secured an all-round victory in the fight against poverty as 98.99 million rural residents living below the current poverty line were lifted out of poverty. By November 2020, the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region had lifted all impoverished counties and more than three million rural residents out of poverty. Standing as a model in China's poverty alleviation, Xinjiang has made unprecedented achievements in economic and social development and improvement of people's livelihood. The eradication of absolute poverty is a milestone in China's human rights achievement, which contributes a lot to global poverty reduction and human rights cause.

Today, guests from Xinjiang will tell in real time their stories about how they overcame poverty and brought about common prosperity. Through this event, we hope to share with you China's experience and good practices in poverty alleviation and contribute our share to the global efforts of poverty reduction, and promote international cooperation and exchanges in poverty reduction.

I wish today's event a complete success.

Thank you.
