Q: The U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee passed the “Taiwan International Solidarity Act” on May 16. What is your comment?

A: Once and for all, the Resolution 2758 of the UN General Assembly resolved, politically, legally and procedurally, the issue of the representation of the whole China, including Taiwan, in the UN and international institutions. It has also made it clear that there can only be one seat representing China in the UN. The one-China principle has become a prevailing consensus of the international community and a universally recognized norm governing international relations, thus fully eliminating any room for anyone, any country or any force to create “two Chinas” or “one China, one Taiwan”. The Taiwan region has no basis, ground or right whatsoever to participate in the UN or any other international organizations that can only be joined by sovereign countries. We urge the US to follow the guidance of the Resolution 2758 of the UN General Assembly, adhere to the one-China principle and the provisions of the three China-US joint communiqués, stop interfering in China's domestic affairs with Taiwan as a pretext, and refrain from moving further down the wrong path.
