To smear and blame China under the pretext of Xinjiang-related issues is a trick the United States has been playing in an attempt to retard China’s development. No surprise at all that, on March 9, the U.S. Permanent Representative, to exert pressure openly, made a statement on the visit of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights to China. This has once again exposed fully the political plot of the U.S..

China welcomes the visit by the High Commissioner, Ms. Michelle Bachelet, to China including a trip to Xinjiang in May this year. This is a normal exchange between the two sides. The U.S. has no right whatsoever to exert pressure by making indiscreet remarks, trying to maneuver the visit. Some western countries, including the U.S., have tried time and again to set up obstacles to disrupt preparations for the visit. One cannot but suspect that they may have hidden political motivation. We urge the U.S. to put aside arrogance and bias, focus more on its own serious human rights problems, rather than interfering and exerting pressure on others in the name of human rights to serve its political agenda, and undermining international solidarity and cooperation.
