On October 12, severalspecial procedure mandate holders, in their public comments on Hong Kong, maliciously denigrated Hong Kong National Security Law and interfered in China’s internal affairs.China firmly opposes and categorically rejects their accusations.

Hong Kong is a society under the rule of law. Everyone is equal before the law and no one can rise above the law.Since the National Security Law came into force, Hong Kong has embarked on a positive transition from chaos to order and prosperity. Hong Kong citizens are now leading a better life and their legitimate rights and freedoms are fully guaranteed in a safe environment.Only those anti-China forces will no longer have the so-called “freedom” to collude with external forces and endanger national security.

The special procedure mandate holders in question, calling white black, interfered in Hong Kong affairs and China’s internal affairs under the pretext of human rights, in an attempt to serve the political agenda of certain Western countries. Their actsconstitutea gross violation of the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations as well as the Code of Conduct for Special Procedures Mandate Holders. If these mandate holders truly care about human rights in Hong Kong, why did they keep silent when black-clad rioters ran wild in Hong Kong and people’s lives, property and basic human rights were seriously threatened and undermined? Why did they suddenly come out to support anti-China forces and stir up troubles when prosperity and stability are restored, the government functions well and the people live in peace and harmonyin Hong Kong? Facts have shown time and again that thesemandate holders have always acted as accomplices of the Western countries in staging “color revolutions” andstirred up troubles around the world in the name of protecting human rights as if there were not enough chaos.

Hong Kong is China’s Hong Kong, and Hong Kong affairs are purely China’s internal affairs. It is entirely up to China to decide how to enact and implement national security law and safeguard national security. This brooks no external interference. No one cares more about human rights in Hong Kong than the government of China. The special procedure mandate holders in question are advised toperform their duties in an impartial and objectivemanner, get right international human rights law, and respect the sovereignty of Member States, their national conditions and the development path they have chosen independently. They should stop paying lip service to the so-called international standards whiledespicablyengaging in serving the interests of the Western countries. Otherwise, they will only be rejected by the international community.
