Chinese Mission Holds Reception to Celebrate National Day
2012/10/16

The Permanent Mission of China in Geneva hosted a reception on September 27 to celebrate the 63rd anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. More than 500 guests including ambassadors and heads of UN agencies and other international organizations based in Geneva attended the event.

Ambassador LIU Zhenmin, Permanent Representative of China, Deputy Permanent Representatives Ambassador YI Xiaozhun and Ambassador WU Haitao warmly welcomed the guests, receiving congratulations and good wishes to China on her National Day. Guests spoke highly of China's earth-shaking changes in the past 63 years and expressed their appreciation for China's active and constructive role in international affairs and its contribution to world peace, stability and development.

This year also marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Permanent Mission of China in Geneva. On 25 October 1971, the 26th Session of the United Nations General Assembly adopted Resolution 2758, restoring the lawful seat of the People's Republic of China in the United Nations and all other related agencies. The Permanent Mission of China in Geneva was established in August 1972.

A photo exhibition featuring China's developments during the past 63 years was also on display at the reception.
