Ambassador LI Baodong held a reception on 3rd of February to bid farewell and celebrate traditional Chinese New Year. About 400 distinguished guests including ambassadors and heads of UN agencies and international organizations, as well as overseas Chinese in Geneva attended the reception.
In his speech delivered at the reception, Ambassador LI expressed his thanks to all the guests for their support and friendship during his stay in Geneva.
Ambassador LI said that the world today is undergoing major development, major changes and major adjustments. Global issues such as climate change, financial crisis, energy and resource security etc. have been thrown into sharp relief. In the face of unprecedented opportunities and challenges, we should look at these issues from a global perspective. This approach is crucial because there is no space in the world for sectorial solutions to integrated problems. In this context, the multilateral system becomes even more important and is facing greater opportunities ever.
The guests presented good wishes to Ambassador LI and his wife. They expressed their appreciation of China's achievements made in the past years and its active and constructive role in the international affairs.
