Permanent Representative of China, Ambassador LI Baodong and Director General of the UNOG, Mr. Sergei A. Ordzhonikidze delivered remarks at the opening of the performance. Ambassador LI said, Chinese Wushu was a valuable historic and cultural legacy of the Chinese nation. As an important component of the Chinese cultural heritage, Wushu had its own profound value and morality. In Chinese philosophy, the actual spirit of martial arts was not in fighting or creating conflict but to stop it. The famous Chinese proverb "turning weapons into jade and silk" vividly captured the pacific culture of the Chinese nation and its peace-loving people.

Mr. Sergei A. Ordzhonikidze said, Wushu was a signature component of the rich and profound Chinese cultural heritage. Chinese Wushu gained popularity worldwide. Wushu blended body, mind and spirit together, enabling the harmonious action of all the elements of life. Harmony was also a cherished value for the UN. As the world is confronted with most complex challenges ever, we need to combine our strength and work together to build a harmonious world.

The Chinese martial arts team, through their wonderful performances, presented the charm of the Chinese martial arts, leaving the audience a deep impression. Throughout the performance, there were constant applauses and acclamations.
