Madame President,

Delegates,

Ladies and gentlemen,

Good afternoon! I am Gulinaer Wufuli, Vice Chairperson of the Science and Technology Association of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, China.

At present, the situation in Xinjiang is stable, and not a single violent and terrorist attack occurred in the past four consecutive years. Xinjiang has achieved high-quality economic development, with its overall economic strength being continuously enhanced. An all-round victory has been won in poverty alleviation. A total of 3.06 million people below the current poverty line were lifted out of poverty. All the 3,666 poverty stricken villages and 35 impoverished counties shook off poverty. People's livelihood has been improved notably. Every year, the government allocates over 70% of its budget resources in ensuring and improving the people's livelihood, so that more development achievements will benefit the people of all ethnic groups in a fairer manner. Ethnic unity is further consolidated, and people of all ethnic groups are closely united like the seeds of a pomegranate. In Xinjiang, various religions co-exist in harmony, and normal religious activities and demands of religious believers are fully protected in accordance with law. People of all ethnic groups enjoy stability, security, development and progress on an equal footing, as well as a remarkably stronger sense of fulfillment, happiness and security.

As a Uygur scholar who has witnessed all these changes, I want to say that the development and progress of the human rights cause in Xinjiang is there for all to see, and has been well received in the international community. No anti-China force can undermine Xinjiang's stability and unity.

Thank you.
