Welcome to the website of the Permanent Mission of the People's Republic of China to the United Nations Office at Geneva and Other International Organizations in Switzerland.

Home to a large number of UN Specialized Agencies and other international organizations, Geneva is one of the most dynamic centers of multilateral diplomacy and an important stage for international negotiations and rule-making in such fields as human rights, disarmament and security, global health, humanitarian affairs, trade and development, technology and environmental protection and labor. It is a key platform for the international community to jointly tackle various global challenges.

Geneva is also of historic relevance to China's multilateral diplomacy. It was here that China made its debut on the stage of multilateral diplomacy when Premier Zhou Enlai headed the Chinese delegation at the Geneva Conference on the Korean War and Indochina in 1954. Since 1971 when its lawful seat in the UN was restored and China returned to international institutions in Geneva, China has taken an active part in multilateral diplomacy and contributed in a significant way to safeguarding world peace, promoting development and advancing international cooperation. In 2017, President Xi Jinping, in his speech at the UN Office in Geneva, elaborated the concept of building a community of shared future for mankind and outlined a blueprint for human progress and development. This in itself is a contribution of Chinese wisdom. As the world undergoes profound changes rarely seen in a century, China will stay committed to an independent foreign policy of peace, and continue to uphold multilateralism, safeguard the international institution with the UN at the center, and join hands with the rest of the world to build an open, inclusive, clean and beautiful world that enjoys lasting peace, universal security and common prosperity.

I appreciate your interest in China and hope this website will help you understand China better and its foreign policy, in particular its practices in multilateral affairs. Your insights and suggestions are most welcome.
