China takes a consistent positive attitude towards nuclear-weapon-free zones. China understands Mongolia's request and efforts for the establishment of a single state nuclear-weapon-free zone. China respects Mongolia's nuclear-weapon-free status and has unconditionally pledged to provide security assurances to Mongolia.
The Chinese Government pursues an independent foreign policy of peace. It is the consistent view of China that all countries, big or small, strong or weak, are equal members of the international community and should be respected and treated on an equal footing. Being close neighbours, China and Mongolia have developed their bilateral relationship on the basis of the Five Principles of Peaceful Co-Existence. China fully respects the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Mongolia, supports Mongolia's pursuance of an independent foreign policy. It is our sincere hope that the security and stability of Mongolia and other countries in this region will be consolidated and strengthened.
With regard to the UNGA resolution adopted last year on Mongolia's international security and nuclear-weapon-free status, China believes that the key to its implementation is to ensure that Mongolia's nuclear-weapon-free status be respected. Mongolia could continue to consult with countries concerned on this issue.
